Participating galleries: Scotty Enterprises, Berlin and Galleria Huuto, Helsinki

About the collaborational project Each participating artist committed a documentation of one of their artworks to the project. These were handed out to the artists of the other gallery. Then, each artist construced a work as a reference to the work of one of the artists from the other gallery. Thus, on exhibit were the works resulting from this process of translating, interpereting and being inspired by the given images.
The title of the project Found in Translation is a reference to the idiom ”lost in Translation”. By replacing the word “lost” with “found” we wished to embrace the idea of interacting with the unknown, of openness and sharing as well as the beauty of surprise.
Initiators: Marja Viitahuhta, Julia Krewani and Bettina Weiß
