Nieguid Duovdagat is an experimental and hypnotic video with music by sami musician Ánnámáret (yoik) and finnish musicians Ilkka Heinonen (jouhikko – finnish bowed lyre) and Turkka Inkilä (electronic music). The music is accompanied by the kaleidoscopic imagery of the winter landscapes of Sápmi, the Sámi homeland. In the transformations of the sceneries into nearly abstract forms, from time to time one can see similarities to embroidered or engraved crafts. The yoik derives from Ánnámáret’s research of the documented audio archives of the yoiks by her predecessors. The video deconstructs the assumptions associated with music videos in its own experimental language: for example, it does not show recognizable human figures and the musicians do not appear in the video. The digitally implemented effect reflects the elements of the electronic music of the track. In ways, the video travels between the real worlds on the one hand and the imaginary worlds on the other.

The music of the video is the title track on the album Ánnámáret: Nieguid Duovdagat, which was selected as the folk album of the year in Finland 2021 and nominated for the Etno-Emma prize in the annual music award gala Emma. The video is part of a series of video works created in collaboration of Viitahuhta, Ánnámáret, Heinonen and Inkilä. The collaboration is initiated by Ánnámáret.
